Bird Box Cleaning For Spring

Such a beautiful sunny spring morning here on the farm! The meadow birds have returned and are going wild with happy chirps and songs.

In an effort to help the meadow bird population, every year we build and install nesting boxes around our property. I believe we are up to around 40 nesting boxes now. These are primarily for the bluebirds and tree swallows. Every year in early spring we go around to each one and clean and make repairs as required. We usually have pretty good success and find evidence of the former tenants nests. Last weekend we got about half the nesting boxes cleaned out, but the weather this morning tells me we better prioritize finishing this job this weekend before the birds go house-hunting 🪺🐦

Our farm store is open today, Saturday from 9-2pm. We have lots of our grass-fed and finished beef (steaks, roasts, pepperettes, ground, lots more..) and our pasture-raised chickens (wholes, halves and quarters) available. We also have some boxes put together with different combinations of cuts. Looking for something special for your Easter dinner plans? We can certainly help with that!

Whatever your plans this weekend, be sure to soak up a bit of sunshine this morning and listen to the birds sing their happy tunes. Take care everyone!☀️
