Ruthie Makes an Escape

Everyday is different here on the farm. This morning I looked outside to see Miss Ruthie wandering around our backyard. Worried we had left a gate unlatched and would find the whole herd on the loose, Ian and I ran outside. Thankfully all gates were closed and latched. It was just Ruthie out and about, who seemed pretty proud of herself and proceeded to skip around and tease us (silly teenager!!). We easily walked Ruthie back to the barnyard but then began scratching our heads…how did she escape??!

My best guess is that she ducked under our temporary electric wire fence reel, then spent the night in our winter hay stackyard (a few hay bales have evidence of nibbles) and then found her way to our backyard. So happy this was a solo mission and she didn’t bring any friends along. Now the job of today will be to revise our fence system so this doesn’t happen again. Always something to keep us on our toes!!

Our farm store is open on this gorgeous November day until 2pm. Take care everyone!!
